Take a second to read about the death rattle of the Islamic Caliphate. A lot of us have spent extensive time in the city of Mosul. It is the biblical seat known as Ninevah. This is a city of rich history where the Saddam Hussein Baathist party invested extensively in infrastructure. While there, I was always struck by the nature of the architecture and the monolith of the ancient city walls, still standing proudly after centuries of conflict. This article focuses on both the humanity that war brings, and the total lack of it. The human cost of this conflict is incalculable. May these kinds of wars never reach our own shores. DOL
