    SOFLETE Basic Customer Review

    I like the idea of training for life, and I guess what that really comes down to is being able to do more stuff before I die. (We’re all dying, bitch).

    In my mind, I need to be prepared for endurance events, or local races I may want to partake in on a whim, so I can feel more alive, and enjoy my body’s capabilities. I want to be able to pull my kids up a long, steep hill on a sled in the dead of winter, while they laugh with excitement. I need to be able to move with purpose under load, I want to maintain my ability to bang out pull-ups, and pick up heavy stuff. I recently began a new path as a volunteer firefighter, in addition to my day job, family (wife and 3 kids), and graduate school, so like all of us I have a bunch of shit going on, and have many reasons to want to feel prepared.

    I have found the SOFLETE programming helps me be better at all these things because I feel better physically and mentally after each session. I take a little time each evening to simultaneously unwind and push myself past perceived limits. As a result, I am more ready for life.

    DB push press - 4x5
    Front foot elevated split squat - 4x8 (per leg)

    Build up to a weight that you can do for all 4 sets of the DB push press and the front foot elevated split squat. Put your front foot on a 45 lb bumper plate or a 4" platform and hold the barbell in the back rack position.

    Stamina:
    5 Rounds
    2 Minute AMRAP
    5 Power cleans 135 lbs
    5 Burpee box jumps 24"
    5 Chest to bar pull-ups
    Rest 1 minute

    Start off each round where you left off.

    Kazakhstan, Part 3: Great Mistakes

    After a satisfying day of trekking in the dazzling mountains just south of Almaty (See Part 2), my friends and I were slumbering soundly in our Spartan accommodations at the Almaty Rose Chalet, the small room warmed by a glowing space heater in the corner. Our sleep was violently interrupted in the dead of night, however, when the door flew open and a towering, muscular shadow burst through the threshold, verbally assaulting us with a rapid-fire stream of questions in Kazakh. Sensing our confusion, the shadow finally shouted “Do you speak English?!” and, perplexingly, “Where is your trainer?!”
