The Conundrum Of Experience, Or Why It's Difficult to Share Uncomfortable Reality

  • 1 min read

Worth Parker's most recent work has made the NYT, and we think everyone should read it. The nuanced experiences of our service men and women are not often easily processed by those who haven't lived the reality of war. In fact, the individual experiences of our service members are often unique enough to be barely understood by each other.

Take a moment to try and understand that we don't mind talking about the duality of joy and terror that comes from being part of a conflict, but we ARE wary of how it will impact your view of us as humans.

Russell Worth Parker is a career Marine Corps Special Operations Officer. He likes barely making the cut-offs in ultra-marathon events, sport eating, and complaining about losing the genetic lottery. He is an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran and graduate of the University of Colorado, the Florida State University College of Law and the Masters in Conflict Management and Resolution Program at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
